As NJJN advocates for a youth legal system grounded in community-based healing services and trauma-informed care, we also recognize the importance of supporting the mental well-being of advocates, particularly systems-impacted youth at the forefront of the advocacy movement.
To support youth in our movement, NJJN is pleased to announce our new NJJN Youth Justice Wellness Fund. The purpose of the fund is to provide a wellness opportunity for young people within our network to promote and develop a consistent self-care healing practice to support their health.
How it works
NJJN will offer wellness assistance of up to $100 per person to any young people ages 13 to 24 years old who are actively working to reform the youth justice system in affiliation with any NJJN member. Examples of the types of services eligible for funding include, but are not limited to:
- Virtual or in-person yoga classes
- Virtual therapy sessions with a service like Betterhelp.com
- Meditation services
Application Process:
NJJN will review applications for assistance on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.
Applicants will need to submit a one-page written statement or 1-minute video outlining:
- The healing practice they are seeking support for;
- How it will support their daily wellness and self-care practices;
- Which NJJN member they are working with; and
- A brief description of the work they are engaged in with that NJJN member.
To assist us in reporting back to the field, NJJN asks that recipients be willing to have a brief (5 minutes or less) follow-up conversation at our request.
NJJN members are encouraged to support its youth advocates in submitting applications. Applications may be submitted on a rolling basis to: info@njjn.org, subject line Youth Justice Wellness Fund Submission.
