NJJN | Projects

Information Hub

NJJN serves as a hub for information and referral. It connects state advocates to each other and to national resources that can assist them in their work. Because state advocates are usually in the forefront of juvenile justice reform in their states, NJJN has the latest information about advances and news in the field. One way that NJJN disseminates this information is through periodic email announcements. To view past announcements, go [1] here.  To sign up to receive NJJN's e-newsletter, email [2] info@njjn.org.

NJJN members stay in close contact with each other, sharing strategies and resources through a members-only discussion listserv.

Publications

NJJN issues periodic policy briefs, talking points, and research summaries on topics of interest to its members and the juvenile justice reform field. Past publications included: involving youth in juvenile justice reform; immigrant youth and the juvenile justice system; youth reentry; and international human rights and juvenile justice.

Conferences

Annual Gatherings
Each year NJJN members gather in an annual forum where they set priorities and elect leadership. NJJN held its fifth annual forum in Washington, DC in June 2007.

Phone Conferences
NJJN hosts multi-state phone conferences in which experts in the field share information, research and strategies with NJJN members and their partners. Recent phone conferences include:

1. Estimating the costs of changing transfer/waiver and age of jurisdiction laws.
2. Media training.
3. New research on girls in detention.
4. Improving conditions of confinement for LGBT youth in juvenile institutions.
5. Understanding Medicaid and Title IVE.
