Organization Profile
The Children’s Campaign is a cutting-edge and groundbreaking, non-partisan advocacy organization devoted to making children’s issues a legislative priority while staying within the well-documented boundaries of permissible activities for a 501(c)(3) organization. The Campaign is a statewide network of community leaders and grassroots volunteers uniting citizens around the common goal of helping Florida’s 3.9 million children who have no political voice of their own.

The Children's Campaign's platforms are a result of consensus building over a broad spectrum of interests and viewpoints, are supported by state of the art public opinion research, and establish a vision aimed at improving the health and well being of children. The Campaign then works closely with local and statewide collaborative partners to encourage policymakers to address the needs as identified in the platform and its related policy briefs.

Organization Profile
Founded in 1971, the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) mission is to fight hate and bigotry and seek justice for the most vulnerable members of society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality. For over a decade SPLC pursued its fight for racial justice through juvenile justice and education reform. Since then, we have accomplished significant reforms throughout the Deep South.

Our work in Florida began in 2008. The Florida office works to reduce the number of youth confined in both residential and detention settings, seeks to ensure humane and effective treatment of youth in the juvenile justice system, and stop children from being pushed out of public schools. SPLC engages in campaigns that use a combination of advocacy tools, including litigation, media, public policy, administrative advocacy, community mobilizing, coalition-building, and technical assistance to key state agencies and high-impact court systems.
