Courtney M. McSwain (She/Her) is the Director of Communications at the National Juvenile Justice Network. Previously, Courtney worked independently as a communications consultant and creative content writer, helping nonprofit organizations and purpose driven leaders tell the story of their work. She began her career as a research analyst with the Institute for Higher Education Policy focusing on increasing higher education access for marginalized communities. She went on to work as a grant writer and development officer for the national community development organization LISC, helping local organizations transform distressed neighborhoods into thriving communities. Additionally, while living in Alexandria, Virginia, Courtney provided professional volunteer service with the Northern Virginia Urban League and its auxiliary the Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network, managing press outreach, member communications, and event promotions for multiple years.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, and her master’s degree in Public Policy from American University in Washington, DC.
